Luminous without being obvious

Loving without being nostalgic
Angry without being violent
Beautiful without being pretty
Perfect without being self conscious
We can sense
something
both intimate & cosmic
in the galilean moons
in their silver rings of orbit.
Cosmic
because we know
how far away
they are
& how ancient.
Intimate
because those
delicate points of light
now shine within
our own body.
A direct
connection between
the infinite
& the small:
the night’s lights
& the body’s darkness
are both
secretly transparent
to one another.
Our task
is to
recognise this.
Our task
is to
recognise our chains
of space & time
but not to
serve them
or struggle against
them
but to see them
clearly.
Like the orbits
of distant
tiny moons.
