I was starting to get a bit bored with the net. It was back in the mid '90s & it wasn't half as interesting as it is today. Encouraged by a friend I started experimenting making simple web pages. Since then I've learned a lot. I was mainly doing this as a hobby but I ended up making pages for a number of organisations of which I was a member. The Dzogchen Community UK site gets a lot of hits from people all around the world. You hear horror stories about small, sometimes alternative minded businesses paying v-a-s-t amounts of money to certain folk to produce the most abysmal pages. One characteristic of these stories was that no attempt was ever made to really get to know the client or explain how things worked in simple, easy to understand terms. In one case, a friend of mine, they didn't even spell her name correctly on the pages!
