Weekend at Wild Ways, Shropshire
July 2004.

Wild Ways is the home of our Druid friends Elaine & Garth near Bewdley. They have some wonderful land with lovely woods. It is a true privilege to be able to spend some quality time in such wonderful surroundings. This was the second time that we planned a summer weekend at Wild Ways - last year we did a sweat lodge weekend there in August.

This year we decided to do a series of vigils - mini personal retreats at a shrine which we built & blessed in the woods. Each member of the group chose a time slot during the period of our stay & was guided out & left there to make contact with the spirits of the place & do whatever personal work or meditation they thought fit. The rest of us went exploring & wooding & participated in a number of workshops throughout the weekend.

It was also a very creative weekend! On Saturday night we held an Eisteddford in honour of the spirit of the place, who we entertained with poems (lots of poems!), stories, songs, jokes & even a play! It was a great night. At our final closing ritual on Sunday afternoon there was even more poetry - many of the group had been inspired by their time in the woods & read a number of very moving verses.
