You don't have to wait for a formal Karma Yoga event. Personal Retreat Please Note: It not
possible to visit without prior arrangement. This programme contains a range of
different types of events, which are organised by the Dzogchen
Community U.K. Most of them are scheduled to take place at Kunselling,
but there are occasional exceptions to this rule. Brief explanations of the nature of the principal events, such as Yantra Yoga and the Vajra Dance are covered elsewhere. It is strongly recommended that anyone who has a genuine interest in following and participating in the Dzogchen teachings attend a teaching retreat with Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, or at least participate in one of the worldwide transmission days. This is because a direct transmission of knowledge from the Master is an essential and indispensable part of the Dzogchen tradition. You can download the Kunselling events booklet for 2008-2009 here. If you are interested in doing some introductory practices such as Rushen or Semzin then please note forthcoming practice weekends as well as the Worldwide Guruyoga Transmission This takes place by video & is co-ordinated by Maciek Sikora . Video Transmissions & Webcasts. These events are both good opportunities for practitioners to get together, which we usually do! However there has been a little confusion between them. Video transmissions happen on specific special days, three times a year - the anniversaries of Garab Dorje (March), Guru Padmasambhava & Yeshe Tsogyal (August) & Adzom Drugpa (November). These are times in which we practice & receive the Worldwide Guruyoga Transmission. This means that everyone in the international community is doing the same practice at the same time. Usually they take place at the time of dawn in Uddiyana which is the early hours of the morning here in the UK. The video transmissions are an optional extra for these days. By watching a synchronised video made specially by Rinpoche, people around the world can receive the Transmission of Guruyoga enabling them to do the basic practices. This intended for those who have genuine interest in the teachings but have difficulties in travelling to meet Rinpoche in person, although a lot of other practitioners like to watch the video too. Someone who is completely new would find it a little bewildering possibly so it is important to have had previous explanation of what is happening before seeing the video. Such introductory sessions are usually advertised in advance & are organised by Maciek Sikora . New people who wish to attend a video transmission must contact Richard at least one month in advance. Live webcasts are something completely different. They are live sound broadcasts of Rinpoche teaching somewhere in the world which go out on the internet. In order to receive them you need a connection to the net, a web browser & the software to receive the broadcast, which will be explained on a web page in advance of the broadcast. They do not happen at regular intervals. They usually last for about two hours. Usually there is an announcement on Norbunet giving a couple of weeks notice & that will be copied to Ukdzogcom as well. Some web casts are available to any interested member of the public & others are restricted to Rinpoche's students. You should always check this & respect such boundaries, please. More information here. The contact for webcasts and worldwide transmission in Wales is Des Barry Check the phone line or contact Ric Doggett Other
local contacts who may be organising collective practice around the
country may be found here. Vajra DanceThe Vajra Dance is principally a means to harmonize the
energy of each individual. If one has a more profound knowledge of the
meaning of the Dance, it becomes a method for integrating the three
existences of body, voice and If you have any queries don't hesitate to contact Rowan See Events above for details of forthcoming courses. The Kunselling Mandala - what a spot to dance! As can be seen in the pictures on the Kunselling page the mandala is at the heart of our beautiful retreat centre. The inflatable dome, known as "the bubble", creates a wonderful light and airy space in which to practice in wet or windy weather. The mandala is painted directly onto the concrete so we can also dance in the sun. The Dances in LondonThere is regular practice on alternative Saturdays. We look forward to dancing with as many people as possible who have received these precious teachings. It doesn't matter if you're a bit rusty, there will always be someone dancing who knows the movements well. Contact Judy Allan. The Dances in CambridgeshireVajra Dance practice is still taking place every Sunday in Ashdon Village Hall on the Essex/Cambridgeshire border. All dancers welcome! Contact Peter & Cindy. Yantra YogaYantra Yoga is a form of physical yoga which helps us to coordinate our body, energy & mind as a basis for Dzogchen practice. If you are interested in attending classes they are held in London by John Renshaw. please get in touch with him. There is more information about Yantra Yoga, including details of forthcoming courses here. |
